The Full Story
Loch Ness August 2023
At the beginning of August, 3 Henley Mermaids, Susan, Fiona & Joan will be joined by great friend of the mermaids Tammy Hirst and Alex Barry (Susan's swimming son!). They will attempt to swim the length of Loch Ness hopefully on Saturday 5th or Sunday 6th August.
This is the largest body of freshwater in the UK with depths of up to 230 metres
The swim will be in chilly temperatures of as little as 12 degrees so it isn’t for the faint hearted!
Stewart Griffiths of Loch Swim Alba is the pilot. He pilots swims in the summer, and works on oil rigs doing water safety in the winter months.

The team could be swimming up or down the loch, it all depends on wind direction & conditions on the day.
The swimmers will stick to a strict rotation, as in all relays.
The length of the Loch is 22 miles and as we all know they will need to avoid the monster!
Mission
We are taking on this cold, long challenge in aid of the Henley Community Hub.
